Christian Doidge a Hibs transfer target as Paul Heckingbottom weighs up £250k swoop for striker

Hibs are weighing up a £250,000 move for Forest Green Rovers striker Christian Doidge.

MailSport understands Easter Road boss Paul Heckingbottom is keen to add the 26-year-old Welshman to his squad.

Doidge scored 14 goals for the League Two outfit last season and also found the net for Bolton during a four-month loan spell at the Championship side.

The Trotters had agreed to buy the frontman in January but the deal was cancelled when the club hit financial problems and the player returned to Rovers.

Hibs are now interested in signing Doidge as Heckingbottom looks to bolster his striking options. He’s lost Marc McNulty after he returned to parent club Reading who want £1m for his services.

And there’s also uncertainty over the future of Swiss hitman Florian Kamberi who has been linked with Croatian side Osijek.
