Christian Benteke makes vow to Crystal Palace fans after signing contract extension

Christian Benteke has vowed to get his 'head down and work hard' after penning a contract extension.

The Crystal Palace striker has failed to hit the heights that he reached earlier in his career with Aston Villa after leaving Liverpool in favour of a move to Selhurst Park.

His new deal will take his contract to the summer of 2021 and speaking to the club's website, the Belgian striker says that he's determined to repay the faith shown in him.

Benteke said: "I am very happy to have reached an agreement to extend my contract with Palace for another year.

"The team have started the season really well and there is a lot to be positive about. I am more committed than ever to repaying the faith that the chairman, manager and our amazing fans have shown in me.”

After agreeing his new contract, Benteke took to social media and made the promise that every Palace fan wanted to hear.

He said: "Really happy to get this sorted. Looking forward to another year at Selhurst. Head down and work hard!"

If the striker can work hard to find his form then the Eagles know that they have a talented striker in there somewhere; it's just a case of helping him reignite his career.
