Christchurch mosque massacre suspect 'facing terrorism charge'

The gunman in the Christchurch mosque attack has now been charged with engaging in a terrorist act.

Australian national Brenton Tarrant is already accused of killing 51 people after opening fire at two mosques in New Zealand.

Now he will now also face a charge of engaging in a terrorist act, under section 6A of the Terrorism Suppression Act.

Tarrant, a suspected white supremacist, eill face 51 murder charges and 40 attempted murder charges, with police saying further offences are still being considered.
