Christchurch, Dublin sealed off by gardai as 'suspect device found'

Gardai have cordoned off a busy Dublin city centre street following an incident.

Emergency services have rushed to the scene at Christchurch and cordoned off an area.

It’s believed a suspect device has been found in the area. The army bomb disposal team are at the scene, Dublin Live reports.

Christchurch Place is currently closed from the Castle St Junction to Nicholas St.

A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí are currently at the scene of an incident at Christchurch Dublin 8. Diversions are in place.

"The area is currently cordoned off and the Army Explosives Ordnance Disposal team are currently at the scene and diversions are in place. Investigations are continuing."

AA Roadwatch said: "Christchurch Place is closed from its junction with Castle St to its junction with Nicholas St due to an incident. Traffic is being diverted down Winetavern St and Werbergh St."

DCC's Traffic Management Centre said: "Garda incident at Christchurch Place-Traffic diversions in place-expect delays on all approaches."
