Christakis is returning to Liverpool with a new city centre restaurant

Christakis is returning to Liverpool at a new city centre venue.

The Greek restaurant has found a smart new home in contemporary premises on Duke Street.

Owner Christakis Georgiou has teamed up with Kemal Aslan and his team and will serve up authentic Mediterranean cuisine and live entertainment with a kitchen right in the centre of the restaurant.

Chris told the ECHO : "I sold my restaurant on York Street a year ago and the one on Smithdown in April with the aim of returning back to Cyprus to retire.

"But then I had a think and my little boy George who's five is going to school here and my son Andreas is playing semi-professional football and then I found out I was going to be having another grandchild, so I decided to stay in Liverpool.

"But staying home was driving me crazy so after six months I approached my friend Kemal and this opportunity came up for us to open the restaurant in partnership and join forces.

"We've got Kemal's daughter Tamla and his business partner's son Sham on the team too."

The menu will mainly feature dishes straight from the grill including the Christakis Platter which is made up of a mixed grill, lamb chops and ribs, chicken kebabs and wings, halloumi and much more.

As well as your favourite dishes, you will be able to enjoy belly and Greek dancing while you dine and a DJ until 2am.

Chris moved to Liverpool from Cyprus with his wife Francesca who hails from here and they have four sons.

After working in restaurants across the city, he took over Renos Greek Taverna on York Street, renaming it Christakis, which he ran for around 17 years before selling it last year.

Chris added: "My restaurants are my life and I love my customers, I like to be at the front of house and I'm very excited to see all my old customers again."

Christakis is due to open to the public on November 9.
