Christ Church Cathedral to host concert for Ukraine

Larissa Kovalchuk.

Ukrainian born soprano Larissa Kovalchuk will perform at an aid concert in Newcastle on Saturday to raise money for those devastated by the Russian invasion of her homeland.

A group of people from the Australian-Ukrainian community of the Hunter came together to organise the concert at Christ Church Cathedral.

Larissa will play the bandura, Ukraine's national instrument. A graduate of Kyiv Conservatorium of Music, Larissa has performed in Ukraine, Europe and Australia.

Australian pianist and composer Andrew Chubb will perform a new work written for this concert.

Various other musicians and composers will also perform, having donated their time for the cause.

Tickets at tix.yt/concertforukraine. All proceeds go to the Ukraine Crisis Appeal - ukrainecrisisappeal.org.
