
Ukrainian born soprano Larissa Kovalchuk will perform at an aid concert in Newcastle on Saturday to raise money for those devastated by the Russian invasion of her homeland.
A group of people from the Australian-Ukrainian community of the Hunter came together to organise the concert at Christ Church Cathedral.
Larissa will play the bandura, Ukraine's national instrument. A graduate of Kyiv Conservatorium of Music, Larissa has performed in Ukraine, Europe and Australia.
Australian pianist and composer Andrew Chubb will perform a new work written for this concert.
Various other musicians and composers will also perform, having donated their time for the cause.
