Chrissy Teigen has criticised Melania Trump for her response to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Lip Sync Battle host brought up the first lady’s Be Best initiative in a pair of recent tweets, suggesting the ongoing crisis could be an opportunity to put the campaign to work.

Be Best launched in May 2018 as “an awareness campaign dedicated to the most valuable and fragile among us – our children”. “There are too many critical issues facing children today, so the three main pillars of Be Best will include well-being, social media use, and opioid abuse,” the first lady said at the time.

“Has Melania even thought about doing something with her be best s*** during these times?” Ms Teigen tweeted.

“I see regular a** awesome people on my timeline all day doing all they can to make people happy and this wifebot is working on whatever the f*** a tennis gazebo is.”

The “tennis gazebo” comment refers to images shared by Ms Trump on 5 March, in which she’s seen checking on the construction of a tennis pavilion at the White House.

“I am excited to share the progress of the Tennis Pavilion at @WhiteHouse. Thank you to the talented team for their hard work and dedication,” the first lady wrote at the time.

On 7 March, she retweeted her own message, adding: ”I encourage everyone who chooses to be negative & question my work at the @WhiteHouse to take time and contribute something good & productive in their own communities. #BeBest”

Ms Teigen also criticised Donald Trump’s management of the coronavirus crisis, adding: “I expect Donald to be a do nothing f****** loser wimp but she could maybe possibly try to uhhh BE BETTER possibly the best be the best the best be best.”

The TV host recently joined her husband John Legend during a live-stream concert aimed to provide relief to those currently on confinement.

Ms Trump has shared several coronavirus-related updates on her Twitter account, thanking medical personnel and writing: ”Consider taking advantage of time working from home to connect with your loved ones via email or FaceTime, spend time w family, or work on your well-being by reading a book or spending time on a hobby.”
