Teigen also thinks she could be “in the cancel club” forever.
(Picture: Getty Images for WSJ. Magazine)Chrissy Teigen has made a promise to herself, as well as a group of paparazzi: from now on, the “Cravings” author won’t be getting “involved” with other people’s scandals. Instead she’s focused on minding her own business, riding out her “cancellation” at home with her husband and kids.
Teigen was spotted in West Hollywood this week, where she she had “attracted a gaggle of photographers,” according to TMZ, because she’s rarely seen in public nowadays. Her absence from the public eye is to be expected, however, especially considering her recent confession that admission to the “cancel club” isn’t particularly pleasant.
“Going outside sucks and doesn’t feel right, being at home alone with my mind makes my depressed head race,” she said. “Cancel club is a fascinating thing and I have learned a whollllle lot. Only a few understand it and it’s impossible to know til [sic] you’re in it....It just sucks. There is no winning.”
So when TMZ asked Teigen how she felt about TikTok star Addison Rae‘s apparent cordiality towards Donald Trump at a UFC fight — for which critics are calling for Rae to be “cancelled” — Teigen refused to weigh in, as it wasn’t her business.
“I have decided I’m not getting involved in anyone’s s*** ever again,” she told the photographers, who then followed up with a question about “the cancel club,” querying Teigen as to how long she expected to remain a member.
“I don’t know, it could be forever. I have no idea. I don’t know,” she said. “All I can do is live my life and take care of my kids and family,” Teigen said, albeit with an initial laugh. “Everyone else can make their choice.”
is nothing compared to how I made Courtney feel. I have worked so hard to give you guys joy and be beloved and the feeling of letting you down is nearly unbearable, truly. These were not my only mistakes and surely won’t be my last as hard as I try but god I will try!!

Teigen faced serious criticism for cyber-bullying Courtney Stodden when Stodden was only 16, then married to a 51-year-old man. In May, Stodden, now 26, told The Daily Beast that Teigen “wouldn’t just publicly tweet about wanting me to take ‘a dirt nap’ but would privately DM me and tell me to kill myself. Things like, ‘I can’t wait for you to die.”
Teigen has since publicly apologised, both on Twitter and via lengthy Medium post, but many critics aren’t buying it.
Telling someone to kill themselves is more than a “mistake”

Pretty sure anyone else would have been banned by Twitter for targeted harassment but Chrissy Teigen got away with tormenting a teenager who never hurt a damn soul. pic.twitter.com/60mEohieL3

If you don't know here is an interview with now adult Courtney Stodden talking about how the abuse they suffered, how they got out of the relationship and how Chrissy Teigen told them publicly and privately multiple times to kill themself.https://t.co/10FhnpKXXI

Some fans are more willing to forgive Teigen’s former bullying, however.
It's okay Chrissy. We love you and we all make mistakes. The biggest thing is being big enough to take responsibility for the mistakes you've made. You've done that and that's all that matters😊

We have all been there Tweeps! I will call you a liar if you haven't slagged, been unkind and tweeted nasty things..once or so times in your Twitter life. Chrissy is human like us, has apologized publicly to Courtney. It's time to draw a line and move on..end of.

We are all human. You’re a lot better than most people on here,

Me included.
All that you have gone through in the past year- raging hormones, loss of a child, Covid.
Cut yourself some slack. You apologized & committed to growth. pic.twitter.com/ZNMzIRfjsX
It remains to be seen how long Teigen’s “cancel club” membership will truly last. Until then, staying home — and offline — is probably a wise choice.
