Chris Wilder sends John Fleck transfer message over Arsenal rumour after Sander Berge deal

Chris Wilder has sent a strong message to Arsenal over their reported interest in Sheffield United midfielder John Fleck.

The Scottish international has impressed in his first season in the Premier League, starting in all but three of the Blades' games so far this season, scoring five goals and providing two assists. His team sit in eighth place in the table, three points above Arsenal in 10th.

Reports suggested that the Gunners were targeting the 28-year-old during the January transfer window as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his squad.

However, Sheffield United have posted a video with the player's response to the rumours: "No chance," was his reply.

Now his manager has joined him in sending a defiant message to anyone who may be thinking of making a late move for the player.

"He’s never been made available by us, not previously, not now," he said (via the Mirror).

“I want him to be a lifer at Bramall Lane. It’s that simple.”

The statement comes just a day after the Blades completed a deal to sign Genk midfielder Sander Berge, having seen off competition from the likes of Manchester United for the signing.

The Norwegian signed a four-and-a-half year deal at Bramall Lane in a deal worth around £22 million.
