Chris Wilder's reaction to Sheffield United falling behind Leeds United in the promotion race

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder was left ruing another 'tough away day' after his side lost the initiative in the race for the automatic promotion spots on Wednesday evening.

A 1-1 draw for the Blades at Birmingham City means that the South Yorkshire side remain third in the Championship table, a point behind Leeds United with just five games to play.

This is the fourth time the two sides have traded places in the last fortnight and Wilder continues to focus on the bigger picture.

"One match doesn't decide anything, especially at this stage, it's all about an accumulation of points," he said following the St Andrew's draw.

"Listen, we came here to win and we wanted to win. But this is all about how many [points] people will get over a period of games. The one thing we have shown, and I've told the boys this afterwards, is that we are going to take it right down to the wire."

Leeds' Tuesday night win at Preston means Marcelo Bielsa's men have wrestled back the advantage after a five-day period in which both sides visited Preston and Birmingham City.

"We've had two tough away days," Wilder continued. "We've taken four points from those and yes, although we'd have loved six, I think we've got to be happy with that overall. I think that's a good return.

"Now we're back at our place and the boys are looking forward to playing at Bramall Lane again in front of our own fans."

Next up for the Blades is a home clash against Millwall at 3pm on Saturday, while Leeds will host Sheffield Wednesday in the late game that day.
