Chris Wilder recommends Swansea City boss Steve Cooper to Sheffield United as report emerges

Chris Wilder has reportedly recommended Steve Cooper as his successor at Sheffield United.

The Blades parted company with Wilder by mutual consent last week, and are now gearing up to find a successor, with the club currently rooted to the bottom of the Premier League and facing almost certain relegation.

According to The Sun, the club have identified former Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic as their number one target, although the Blades would likely need to dig deep if they are to tempt the Serb away from a lucrative contract with Qatari side Al-Gharafa.

A move is therefore by no means certain, and the club may well have to look elsewhere, with Wilder among those consulted over their next move.

It appears he's a fan of Swansea City boss Cooper.

The same report claims the Welshman may well be available if the Swans fail to secure promotion this season, but he is believed to have several other admirers.

Crystal Palace have already been linked with a possible move, with the Eagles set to change things up with Roy Hodgson out of contract this summer.

Cooper endured his first ever defeat in a South Wales derby on Saturday, and has previously batted away speculation linking him with a move.

When asked about speculation linking him with a move to Selhurst Park earlier in the season , he said: "All of that’s irrelevant. Not even worth talking about.

"We’re in this mad schedule and the only thing I’m focused on is the team and preparing for the next game. No sideshows and certainly nothing to talk about.

"We know we had to get that extra work done on the weekend. We’re focused on what’s in front of us, and I’m no different."

Swansea return to action after the international break with a trip to Birmingham City on Friday April 2.
