Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has reiterated his hope the club can bring in a striker before the transfer window closes - with Liverpool frontman Rhian Brewster top of the wanted list.
Wilder explained that no transfer is not guaranteed to happen, with the Bramall Lane club stalling on a deal for Brewster, though the Blades boss is keen to sign the Reds starlet on a permanent deal and has held talks with Jurgen Klopp over the 20-year-old.
He said on Friday that "things need to happen from a negotiation point of view above me" if any transfer was to get over the line.
And, when asked if he could reassure fans that the board will definitely get him a striker, Wilder told Yorkshire Live : "I cannot say 100% that a player will be in."
Brewster is the main target for Sheffield United, though CEO Stephen Bettis has reportedly held talks with Arsenal over a move for their young striker Folarin Balogun and there are said to be others who are being tracked.
"I wouldn't bring one in just for the sake of it," Wilder added.
"I have consistently said right the way through that at the top of the pitch we need to improve and that doesn't change.
"I am sure the board share my desire to get one of these deals done.
"I have said all along in board meetings why we need to do it.
"I believe that they do want to improve and do want to fill that spot with a player."
