Chris Wilder makes Jack Robinson transfer admission after Nottingham Forest exit

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder has revealed he had been keeping tabs on Jack Robinson years before his exit from Nottingham Forest.

The former Reds defender left the City Ground to sign for the Blades in a £1m deal after spending 18 months on Trentside.

During his time with the Reds, Robinson made 59 appearances and scored two goals, both of which came in his debut season in 2018/19.

Robinson started his career at Liverpool, and later had spells with Blackpool, Queens Park Rangers and then Forest, before moving to Bramall Lane.

Wilder has revealed how he has been keeping an eye on Robinson for the past three years, and explains how a deal with Forest came about.

“Jack was first on my radar about three years ago,” Wilder told The Athletic.

“When we saw he wasn’t playing at Forest and available, he was someone I thought could do a job for us.”

“Jack is a player who I believe will add to the squad," Wilder continued.

“It is such an important position for us. He can do left wing-back as well, plus left central midfield. He’s an aggressive competitor and I believe he will bring something to changing room and the training ground, too.

“Jack will genuinely believe he has an opportunity to force his way into a Premier League first team. I was impressed meeting him. I knew a bit about Jack before but, from speaking to him, I can see there is a huge desire from him to take this window of an opportunity.”
