Chris Wilder explains how Jurgen Klopp is different to other Premier League managers

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder reckons Jurgen Klopp's "refreshing" approach sets the Liverpool boss apart from his Premier League rivals.

Wilder's Blades hosted their rivals in red over the weekend and although they produced a spirited performance, the Premier League leaders retained their five-point lead over Manchester City with a narrow 1-0 triumph.

Klopp's men had to fight hard for their 16th straight Premier League win which came courtesy of Georginio Wijnaldum's 70th-minute strike from the edge of the box.

And Wilder has revealed how the two managers sat down for a post-match beer after the game - a meeting he doesn't get to have with many top-flight bosses.

"I'm not a connoisseur of champagne, I don't really drink a lot to be honest, but it was great to sit in a room with him," said Wilder.

"We've had a beer and chatted about the game. It's quite refreshing because I don't get that feel with some managers in the Premier League, which is disappointing.

"We've always had an open door policy here, so it is good to chat."

Indeed, Liverpool were slightly fortunate to leave with the three points after Sheffield stopper Dean Henderson somehow failed to stop Wijnaldum's hopeful effort.

The shot should have been comfortably collected, but on-loan Manchester United goalkeeper Henderson allowed the ball to slip through his fingers and trickle over the goal-line.

Sadio Mane struck the woodwork and Mohamed Salah should have sewn up the three points but Liverpool were far from their best and were tested to the full by the Blades.

"We were after a win and didn't want to just soak up pressure. We had a plan and stability and we rode our luck, even though their chances came from our mistakes," Wilder added.

"We wanted a little bit more and we could have been talking about a big result. We have to take those opportunities when they come.

"When you play Liverpool, you have all got to play well in and out of possession in our shape. We got the balance right because I didn't want to turn it into a basketball match.

"If I did that, we'd have got murdered, so we have got to look the game and tactically try to organise ourselves to get a result.

"What we can't affect are the individual errors and those in both boxes have cost us. The goal, from our point of view was very, very poor."
