Chris Thompson knows Redskins will have tough choices to make at RB

Few would argue against the idea that running back is the strongest position on the Washington Redskins’ roster heading into 2019 training camp.

Adrian Peterson leads the way, flanked by Chris Thompson and a host of others.

The veteran Thompson knows coaches and the front office will have a hard time deciding who makes the final 53 if everyone stays healthy, per Kareem Copeland of the Washington Post:

“If everybody is healthy come August and September, the coaches definitely have a tough job on their hands with what to do with everybody. If you look at the lineup, to me, it’s ridiculous.”

Besides Peterson and Thompson, Derrius Guice is on his way back from injury, Samaje Perine is having another strong summer and draft pick Bryce Love could have a Thompson-like impact. Don’t forget a versatile presence like Byron Marshall, either.

The Redskins undoubtedly plan to be a run-first team behind a great offensive line in 2019. But the “who” part of the equation doesn’t have an easy answer as of now.

While the summer should provide some answers, Thompson is right to think the position should still give the Redskins the toughest time in the cutdown process.
