Chris Thompson grew up wanting to be like LaDainian Tomlinson

The Washington Redskins’ Chris Thompson is teammates with Adrian Peterson, one of the greatest running backs of all time, but he still looks to model his game after someone else.

In a recent ESPN feature that delved into current athletes’ favorite athletes, Thompson revealed that he has a soft spot for Chargers legend LaDainian Tomlinson.

“My guy that I really looked up to was LaDainian Tomlinson,” said Thompson. “He was one of the first guys that I remember seeing that I paid attention to growing up that was a runner as well as a good receiver. That’s what I wanted my game to be.”

Tomlinson took the league by storm in the early part of the century, rushing for 145 touchdowns in his 11-year career. Thompson has a long way to go in order to put up stats that would rival Tomlinson’s, but if he can even bring forth a semblance of the future Hall of Famer, the Redskins will be lucky.
