According to ESPN’s John Keim, Redskins running back Chris Thompson broke down crying after the game when talking about the job security of head coach Jay Gruden.
Thompson, who has been with Washington for his entire career, has always been high on Gruden’s list of players, and the coach has repeatedly sung Thompson’s praises throughout the offseason.
After falling to 0-5 on the season, it’s growing more and more likely that Gruden will be removed from his post in Washington sooner rather than later, and a 33-7 loss to the Patriots doesn’t help his case. For some fans, this is exactly the change you want. But for players, Gruden’s potential departure could be very tough to watch.
