Chris Sutton trolls Rangers boss Steven Gerrard as he delivers 'violin' one-liner

Celtic legend Chris Sutton has aimed a playful pop at Steven Gerrard over his recent remarks in the wake of Celtic's scathing attack on the SFA.

The Record Sport pundit took to social media to issue a response after the Ibrox boss came out swinging in defence of star striker Alfredo Morelos and the treatment he receives in Scottish football.

Gerrard's strongly-worded Morelos rebuttal came hours after he insisted there was no point 'getting the violin out' over referee decisions after Ryan Christie was banned for two games.

And Sutton couldn't resist drawing a comparison between Gerrard's stance on officials and the Rangers manager's claim there is an agenda to drive the Colombian out of Scottish football.

Sutton, replying to our story on Gerrard's defence of Morelos, simply wrote: "Is that a violin out??"

The Celtic hero praised Rangers and their manager in the immediate aftermath of their victory over Celtic but claimed last month the pressure will always be on the Liverpool legend until he secures silverware.

He said: "In terms of improving the playing squad he's absolutely done that but I'm up there all the time, you've got to win something, you can't finish second all the time.

"At the moment that's where Rangers are finishing, second behind Celtic."
