Chris Sutton trolls Rangers ban as Celtic hero claims Ibrox lockout 'is like not getting into Lidl'

Chris Sutton has taken a dig at Rangers after he was banned from Ibrox – as he compared the knock back to being turned away from Lidl.

Sutton was again denied access to Ibrox when Celtic played Bayer Leverkusen in Germany, with BT Sport originally planning to set up the studio at Ibrox ahead of kick-off against Sparta Prague later in the evening.

The broadcast giants alternatively used a studio at an empty Celtic Park for their Europa League coverage.

It follows on from a previous knock back in September when Sutton and Neil Lennon were not granted access to Ibrox for a previous round of matches as Rangers claimed it was down to security reasons.

Following the ban, Sutton couldn't resists a cheeky dig at Rangers when attending an Q&A event at The Hydro.

As he joined former teammates John Hartson and Henrik Larsson on stage, he said: “I’d like to thank The Hydro for letting me in tonight, not all establishments in Glasgow will have me."

Sutton took another pop moments later, adding: “Not getting into Ibrox is like not getting into Lidl!”

BT Sport have taken a firm stance against the ban for Sutton from the ground insisting they will "not be forced to split a team behind and in front of screen".
