Chris Sutton slams Steven Gerrard's Rangers celebrations as 'embarrassing' after Parkhead win

Celtic legend Chris Sutton has told Steven Gerrard his celebrations after Rangers' win at Parkhead were 'a touch embarrassing'.

The Ibrox boss grabbed the Sky Sports camera and screamed into it before running down the touchline to celebrate with the visiting support.

While on his way down he also jumped into the arms of Borna Barisic after the Croatian's man of the match performance for the Ibrox side.

He set up both goals but Record Sport columnist Sutton thought it was a bit over the top.

He said: "Well done to Rangers… deserved it. And within two points of the champions… Steven Gerrard celebrating like he’d won the league, a touch embarrassing."

Former Rangers hero Alex Rae was quick to respond to Sutton though, and hit back on Twitter by replying: "Right on cue the @CelticFC cheerleader trying to put the boot into @RangersFC manager take a breath big man an maybe win an lose with bit dignity."

The celebration was defended by Rangers fans and even Celtic supporters thought it was unfair.

@LK95 said: “I’d be raging if Celtic didn’t celebrate like that. Like we did at Ibrox in September.”

@kennoUTJ added: “Leave it out Chris pal. I’m Celtic to the core, they deserved it and Lenny would celebrate the same.”

@8Gntagg said: “Lenny did the same at Ibrox big man, what did you expect him to do just slide down the tunnel?”

@_French_Eddy_ said: “No. That’s the sort of mentality you need in a title race. What’s embarrassing was our performance today. But we move on.”
