Chris Sutton says Celtic are best in Scotland as 'bigheads' Rangers warned over champagne football

Chris Sutton feels Celtic are "probably the best team in Scotland at the moment" and feels their champagne football will have Rangers running scared.

After a rocky start under new manager Ange Postecoglou, the Parkhead club have put in a string of strong performances in recent weeks.

That culminated with a 2-0 win over AZ in the Europa League, and the Parkhead icon couldn't help but rub it in to Rangers rival Ally McCoist.

Sutton said on BT Sport's Scottish Football Extra: "I notice we're starting with probably the best team in Scotland at the moment.

"Champagne football, champagne Celtic: McCoist must be getting worried.

"They played very well again, Joe Hart made a big save early on in the game but they are playing with such intensity and desire, a fire in the belly.

"Going forward they're creating chances, I'm still a little bit worried defensively but I tell you what: Ange Postecoglou, in the space of a couple of months, he said he was going to come in and change the way that Celtic play and he has been good to his word.

"I'm still worried a little bit defensively for Celtic, and they're still a work in progress, but it's been such a positive start from Celtic under Ange."

McCoist wasn't taking that lying down, asking whether it was Celtic or Paris Saint-Germain his colleague was describing.

But Sutton insists there's reason to believe for his old club.

He continued: "The way the team have played in recent weeks, Furuhashi coming in and showing that dynamism, Celtic fans have hope.

"When they see what's happening across the city - and Rangers are creaking, the old bigheads across the city getting carried away with themselves.

"I don't know, there's just a bit of hope."
