Chris Sutton roasts old foe Robbie Savage over 'Mickey Mouse' claim after ex-Celtic man Odsonne Edouard Crystal Palace brace

Chris Sutton playfully ripped into old foe Robbie Savage after Odsonne Edouard 's Crystal Palace debut - insisting his brace proves the Premiership is no 'Mickey Mouse' league.

Former Celtic striker Sutton has spent years defending Scottish football and did so again while pointing at another success story in Edouard.

The Frenchman sprang from the Eagles' bench to notch a quick-fire double against Tottenham.

And Sutton was delighted to take the opportunity to slaughter Savage - who has been a loud critic of Scotland's game for some time - joking that Edouard could score a whopping 70 goals in England's top flight if he can continue his debut momentum.

Speaking on BBC Five Live Sutton enjoyed the moment.

He said: "I loved this yesterday. I did laugh, I did chortle.

"The Premier League is the best league in the world? And the Scottish league is a pub league, dog and duck, farmer's league? A laughing stock to many people down south?

"We saw Odsonne Edouard transfer down from the pub league to Crystal Palace. He came on for six minutes against Spurs and he scored twice!

"At this rate he will score 70 goals this season!

"Who's 'Mickey Mouse' now? I love the Premier League, the richest league in the world, but I also love the Scottish league.

"It's a great product that deserves just a little bit of respect."
