Chris Sutton presents Rangers with a new nickname as Celtic legend sides with Scott Brown

Celtic legend Chris Sutton insisted Rangers should only be known as the "league Invincibles' after their unbeaten Premiership season.

Steven Gerrard 's champions rounded off the league campaign without a loss on their record after the 4-0 trophy day rout of Aberdeen.

Despite the impressive record from the Ibrox men, the pundit insists that only Brendan Rodgers' Celtic can be considered invincible.

Rodgers' led the Hoops to a treble during the 2016/17 season as they hit a record-breaking 106 points total.

The one blemish on Rangers record this term has been their performances in the domestic cup competitions with early exits in the League Cup and Scottish Cup to St Mirren and St Johnstone respectively.

Sutton was quick to point out the distinction between the two as James Tavernier lifted the Premiership title.

He tweeted: "Incredible achievement by Steven Gerrard and Rangers.

"The League Invincibles. Just for the record though the real Invincibles were Brendan Rodgers Celtic 2016/17.

"Well played though."

John Kennedy's Celtic finished 25 points behind their rivals after a goalless draw with Hibs rounded off a disappointing campaign in Glasgow's east end.
