Chris Sutton names the key reason why Tottenham must keep faith with Mauricio Pochettino

Chris Sutton has insisted that Tottenham Hotspur must keep the faith with Mauricio Pochettino.

The Spurs boss has come under fire after a poor start to the Premier League season which sees the club sat 11th in the table after ten matches.

Sunday's 2-1 defeat to Liverpool was their fourth of the campaign already, sparking much debate amongst the support base and the media as to whether Pochettino's time has run its course.

The unresolved futures of Christian Eriksen, Toby Alderweireld and Jan Veronghen have also led to some suggestions the Argentine boss could walk if he isn't sufficiently backed in the transfer market.

However, despite their less than ideal start, Sutton has insisted that Tottenham can not afford to lose faith in Pochettino and their loss of form is a result of the players underperforming.

"Tottenham, they're in a bad place at the moment but will they come again, can they come again under Pochettino? I think they can," he told BBC Radio 5Live Monday Night Club.

"I think they have too many good players but there are too many good players at the moment that are simply underperforming. It's as simple as that.

"They are leaking goals which is something that under Pochettino's tenure they haven't seemed to do. Before this season, he's had five years at Spurs. Alright, they haven't won anything but the club has improved as a whole, they've been pretty much immaculate.

"For the sake of a couple of dodgy months, you can not lose faith in your manager and what he has done for the club."
