Chris Sutton names the Chelsea star who could benefit from Harry Kane's injury blow

Former Chelsea forward Chris Sutton has praised the maturity Tammy Abraham has shown so far this season.

Abraham has been one of the stand-out English strikers in the Premier League, scoring 12 times in England's top-flight for Frank Lampard's side.

As a result, Abraham has earned plenty of recognition from those inside the game, as well as receiving call-ups to Gareth Southgate’s England squad throughout the season.

And Sutton believes the 22-year-old should be given the nod to lead the line for his country should Harry Kane miss Euro 2020 through injury.

The Tottenham man is expected to be out until April after picking up a hamstring injury against Southampton on New Year’s Day.

"I think it is pretty simple. Who is the best number nine? Who is the best all-round number nine?” Sutton told BBC Radio 5 Live on Monday night.

"Wrighty has touched on Abraham there and I think he is learning all the time. Credit to Frank for giving him the opportunity. I think he is really maturing as a player.

"If you are going to compare to Danny Ings, and Danny Ings has been phenomenal as of late, really confident and a clear mind on how to finish.

"But if you are saying does he have better attributes than Tammy Abraham? I don’t think he does."
