Chris Sutton makes Kalvin Phillips Leeds United transfer claim

Chris Sutton believes Kalvin Phillips has had his "head turned" by transfer speculation after rumours of a bust up with Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa.

Phillips himself has already quashed rumours of a rift between himself and the Whites boss in an interview with Amazon Prime, but Sutton refuses to believe the 26-year-old.

The speculation regarding the relationship between the midfielder and Bielsa has partly stemmed from Jamie Redknapp's comments on Sky Sports, after he suggested something "wasn't right" at Leeds.

Phillips was linked with a move away from Elland Road last summer after his stellar performances for England at Euro 2020.

The Thorp Arch academy graduate remained a Leeds player with the transfer window slamming shut, but speculation regarding his future has not calmed down.

“What about the fall out with Phillips and Bielsa,” Sutton told the BBC. “Oh, come on (in response to being told the so called 'rift' does not exist).

“Are you convinced (a Leeds fan) that he is going to be at Leeds in January? Because it looks to me like he may have had his head turned.

“Let’s be honest. Leeds is a great club with a great history.”
