Chris Sutton groaned, "the gamble didn't pay off", after Celtic crashed out of the Champions League.
The pundit had warned that the Celtic board were risking the club's seat at the top table of European football by failing to further back Brendan Rodgers in the summer transfer window.
In a column last week, Sutton stated Celtic chiefs were taking "the biggest gamble of them all" in refusing to sanction further transfer deals before the play-off round.

After a second 0-0 draw with Kairat Almaty, Celtic dropped out of the Champions League after a penalty shoot-out as the Kazakh side triumphed 3-2 from spot-kicks.
Referring his warning to the Celtic board after the result, which sees Celtic drop into the Europa League, Sutton posted on X: "The gamble didn’t pay off… turning phone off…"
Writing in the Daily Record last week, Sutton stated: "I’ve been saying for weeks this shambles of a transfer window could seriously come back to bite them on the backsides.
"And yet here we are.
