Chris Sutton in fresh Brendan Rodgers blast as Celtic hero slams 'arrogant' former boss

Chris Sutton has delivered a brutal slapdown aimed at former Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers .

The Leicester manager spoke to broadcaster Premier Sports about his time in Glasgow on Saturday but the Record Sport pundit was less than impressed with the Irishman's "patronising" comments about his former team.

The ex-Hoops hero believes Celtic have got the right man in the dugout after Neil Lennon was confirmed as Rodgers' permanent successor in the aftermath of the Hoops' 2-1 win over Hearts in the Scottish Cup Final - a win which sealed the treble Treble.

Rodgers claimed he would love to make a return to Glasgow but that didn't go down well with the Englishman.

Sutton posted on social media: "This sort of arrogance and patronising is exactly why Celtic fans felt let down by Brendan.

"At least Celtic now have a manager who the fans believe is a Celtic supporter."

Rodgers admitted during the sitdown that he would have no hesitation in making a return to Parkhead... if he was accepted by the supporters of his former club.

He said: "I was in the situation when I left Liverpool, I had opportunities to go elsewhere. But I felt at that time at Celtic, it was a great opportunity to go in. A club keen to bring me in.

"A moment where Rangers were close and they were getting promoted. I went in and hopefully created a really good base.

"That challenge may come again and might come in the future. I would have no hesitation going back. Incredible club, but like everything in life, it is just about timing.

"Whether I would be received back is a different story. But would I go back to Celtic, absolutely."
