Chris Sutton in brutal on-air Celtic takedown as he tells defiant fan to 'get in the real world'

Ex-Parkhead striker Chris Sutton admits it's curtains for Celtic's 10 In A Row bid - and has told a confident supporter to "get in the real world" for thinking the title race is still on.

The Record Sport columnist has conceded the bid for 10 In A Row over after defeat to Rangers in the New Year derby leaves them 19 points behind their rivals, albeit with three games in hand.

Neil Lennon's side dominated proceedings at Ibrox until Nir Bitton's 62nd-minute red card, followed by an own goal from Callum McGregor.

That loss has Ibrox manager Steven Gerrard within touching distance of the league title in the knowledge that he'll still hold a double-digit advantage even if the champions manage to win all three of their games in hand.

But one ardent fan told Sutton the title race is still on - and he also reckons cracks are starting to show in the league leaders despite their win.

Celtic diehard Tommy told BBC 5 Live's 606: "Sadly, I'm seeing the signs of their demise. Celtic put on a good performance, sadly the referee gave us a red card.

"Last time I was on, last year, I said how Neil should walk away because he wasn't getting a tune out of his players.

"Since then, the players have responded and not just in this game, in the last four games of Rangers, they lost against St Mirren and then if you watch some of their games, the players are starting to drop.

"This time last season, Rangers went on a slump, within eight games they lost 13 points, and it's purely because they ran out of gas. I think it's disrespectful to say it's all over bar the shouting."

Sutton fired back: "Tommy, can I just say, Rangers have dropped four points all season.

"Let's get in the real world."

Sutton has also questioned whether Gerrard will remain at Rangers next season.

Opening up the show, he said: "It is over, it's not painful for me to say that. Celtic haven't been good enough this season.

"I thought they played very well today, they gave Rangers a bit of a footballing lesson, ultimately they lost.

"Rangers' goalkeeper was superb today, their defence this season has been superb.

"Here's one for you though, Stevie G gets an offer down south from a Premier League club next season.

"Will he leave? Would he leave Rangers, has he done enough?"
