Chris Sutton fires 'image' dig at Todd Cantwell as he shares Rangers concerns

Chris Sutton has shared his concerns about Todd Cantwell insisting the Rangers midfielder is too focused on himself.

The former Norwich man has been one of the top performers at Ibrox since he arrived at the club, but last week in the Europa League he was on the end of a shock hook by his manager Philippe Clement.

Cantwell was removed from the action against Aris Limassol after just 30 minutes when Ross McCausland replaced him.

Clement later confirmed the change was tactical as he shared his frustrations about Cantwell's performance.

Sutton, who has previously clashed with the former Norwich man on social media, knows Cantwell's qualities, but he reckons the Englishman is holding himself back in a number of ways.

He told Sky Sports: "I think his best position is as a No.10 or playing narrow.

"He is not a winger who will stay out on the touchline and drive at players, he is an intelligent footballer. That is what he is.

"He hasn't been consistent enough over the years. It is interesting the relationship with Philippe Clement.

"He is just like any other player in the team. He is not different, at times I think he puts his image of himself before the team.

"That is something that needs to change. He is 25 years old, you see some of his passes there, he is a really clever footballer.

"For his career to kick on, he needs to show greater consistency and if he does, then Rangers are on to a winner with him.

"But at this moment in time, you don't know what you are going to get with him."
