Chris Sutton drops Joe Aribo 'off' from Rangers claim as Ally McCoist bites back with Kyogo quip

Celtic legend Chris Sutton claims Joe Aribo will leave Rangers imminently after Steven Gerrard's admission.

Following the win over Brondby, the Ibrox boss admitted he would be lucky to hold on the Nigeria cap if he keeps up his top form.

Sutton reckons that means he will be quickly sold by the Premiership champions - insisting Gerrard had all-but conceded it.

However, Rangers icon Ally McCoist wasn't having any of it on Scottish Football Extra on BT Sport.

He insisted it was more likely that Celtic smash-hit Kyogo Furuhashi would leave Celtic Park for a move south of the border.

When quizzed about Gerrard's comments by host Darrell Currie, McCoist admitted: "That did come from left-field, I must admit, that surprised me a little bit.

Sutton cut in, stating: "He's off"

McCoist took the bait, stating: 'No chance, Aribo was outstanding last night. He's the type of player that can play at the level down south.

"He certainly has a level of physicality that other players don't have."

Sutton continued to wind-up the Rangers favourite: "Steven Gerrard basically said he's off. He's basically said he's off, get over it."

McCoist bit back: "What he has suggested is that Rangers would do well to hold on to him. That may prove to be the case, it's a big season.

"The financial rewards of winning the league this season are absolutely massive. I can understand Steven's comments, because naturally your top players will garner interest.

"What about Kyogo at Celtic? He could be off in January the way he is playing.

Sutton quipped: "Why do you keep going on about Kyogo, are you worried about Kyogo? Is he in your dreams?

"We're talking about Aribo and all of a sudden; he's in Ally's head."
