Chris Sutton believes his former side Chelsea are favourites to win the Premier League this season.
His views are in stark contrast with that of Manchester United legend and fellow pundit Paul Scholes, who dismissed the Blues' chances.
When questioned about the west Londoner's title credentials he replied: “Chelsea… I’m not sure, they have been great and I think they are better than I actually give them credit for but I think it’s between Liverpool and Manchester City. ”
However, Thomas Tuchel’s side are currently top of the table and have won seven of their nine league games this season, suffering only one defeat against City in September.
The Blues travel to St James' Park to face relegation threatened Newcastle on Saturday, fresh off the back of thrashing Norwich 7-0 in their last league match.
Former Chelsea striker Sutton was impressed with the manner in which Tuchel's side put the Canaries to the sword last weekend, and believes they’re the team to beat this season.
"I believe Chelsea will win the Premier League – their squad is so strong and their academy players are flourishing," Sutton told BT Sport.
"Today’s performance (against Norwich) was excellent, but last month the performances have not been there.
"That is a tremendous mentality to have. They have a squad ready to compete at all levels."
Chelsea haven’t won the Premier League title since 2016/17, when Antonio Conte was in charge.
However, after winning the Champions League last season and adding Romelu Lukaku to their impressive forward line, they are expected to vastly improve on last season’s fourth place finish.
