Chris Sutton details Ange Postecoglou Celtic 'hope' amid Spurs links

Chris Sutton admits he hopes it's not the end for Celtic and Ange Postecoglou.

The 57-year-old guided the Hoops to a historic eighth treble this evening, with a comfortable 3-1 victory over Inverness at Hampden.

Goals from Kyogo, Liel Abada and Jota secured the club's fifth trophy out of the six available since Postecoglou arrived in Glasgow in 2021.

It could well be Postecoglou's last though, with Tottenham poised to make their move for Celtic manager.

And while previously admitting that he thinks Postecoglou will leave for the bright lights of the Premier League, ex-Hoops star Sutton is hopeful that he could yet hang around for a while longer.

He tweeted: "Well played Ange Postecoglou and Celtic…the first big team to a treble this season! What a job Postecoglou has done. Let’s hope it’s not the end."

Speaking after the game, Postecoglou himself played it cool and batted away questions regarding links with Spurs.

Instead, the Australian insists he will enjoy a break with a family holiday.

He said: "I understand all that but I am going to be a little bit selfish here because not just myself, my family, the people around me have all worked really hard to enjoy this moment.

"As disappointing as that may be for people that's what I'm going to do [enjoy it].

"We've worked too hard as players, and managers that if I then start talking about things that aren't really important right now to me and those people around me...mate, I'm just enjoying this and I will enjoy it for as long as I can until people drag me away to talk about other things.

"I'm going on holiday on Tuesday, I cannot wait! I'll take the family away.

"It's felt like a long season because of the World Cup. You need to remember that some of our boys had been at a World Cup mid-season, it's crazy the levels they've reached considering the demands put on them this year.

"You could see from our performances over the last four or five weeks, the boys are close to being on empty. We all need a good break."
