Chris Sutton 'bored' of Celtic talk as transfer worries are 'mess'

Chris Sutton admits he has become "bored" of talking about Celtic's transfer shortcomings.

The Hoops are yet to bring in any new faces through the door so far this pre-season despite a need for signings.

Manager Martin O'Neill, in fact, has only recently had his backroom staff confirmed after Shaun Maloney and Mark Fotheringham were asked to take pay cuts to remain at the club.

The Scottish champions essentially have a squad overhaul requirement with several loan players departing while other big names could also leave including the likes of Daizen Maeda and Arne Engels.

But business is yet to pick up in any meaningful way. For Sutton it has become "boring" discussing his former club's lack of movement as it seems to be the same points made over and over.

And the retired striker is worried for his old club for the "mess" they seem to be in off the field. “It’s pretty boring talking about Celtic,” the Englishman said on the Warm-Up podcast. “But it’s not only boring, it is really concerning. It’s really worrying. So let’s just, let’s just wait and see.

“Maybe there’s this masterplan. Something going on behind the scenes. You know where Celtic are going to explode into life and sign all these top quality players and you know, get off to a flier in the Champions League and keep hold of Daizen Maeda and Arne Engels and Alistair Johnston.

‘But no, I think that it’s just a mess isn’t it? It’s a mess.”
