Chris Sutton blasts Rangers null and void 'nonsense' as Ally McCoist riffs on Celtic hero's pain

Chris Sutton declares Rangers should be handed the title if the season is forced to stop as he branded the idea of a null and void campaign "nonsense".

SPFL chief executive Neil Doncaster admitted all options were on the table during an exclusive Q&A with Record Sport as he fronted up the mayhem that’s been caused by Celtic ’s controversial winter trip to Dubai.

Members will decide how the season is concluded if another break is enforced, and despite Rangers being 21 points clear there is no set recourse.

While admitting he wasn't willing to say the title race was over just yet, Ibrox legend Ally McCoist ripped into fellow pundit Sutton on BT Sport's Scottish Football Extra.

When asked by Darrell Currie if he was ready to say the title was ready to call the league for Rangers, McCoist said: "Never, not until it's mathematically impossible."

However Sutton chimed in with: "Not with null and void on the table now as well of course."

The Ibrox icon laughed off the suggestion that the league would be scrapped by the Parkhead legend, adding: "By the way, I could almost feel the desperation coming through my screen, the anxiety, the tears, I can feel it all, give that man a cuddle, whoever is next to Sutton give that man a cuddle."

Sutton also blasted the idea after Celtic were awarded the title in last season's curtailed campaign.

He added: "Rangers have been excellent all season, they are so far ahead in the title race, they should hand Rangers the title now.

"On a serious note all of this null and nonsense from Neil Doncaster, there would be an outcry if that was the case and quite rightly so after what happened last season and Celtic have to accept it, and I think they do most of the Celtic fans."
