Chris Sutton aims stinging Rangers trophy jibe at Drew McIntyre as Celtic hero responds to WWE star's on-air taunt

Scottish football is no stranger to the weird and wonderful - no less when it's a good old-fashioned spat.

This one, it has to be said, is certainly of the tongue-in-cheek variety but it's no less bizarre.

New WWE Champion Drew McIntyre, the first Scot in history to hold the title, now seemingly has his sights set on - *checks notes* - Chris Sutton.

Yes, the Celtic legend and Record Sport columnist rarely finds himself lost for words and he's been involved in a light-hearted "beef" with the Rangers -supporting wrestler.

Following some verbal grappling between the pair on BT Sport last week, McIntyre went on to defeat Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania.

He then appeared on talkSPORT on Monday morning, where he warned he was now going after Sutton followed by heavyweight boxing champ Tyson Fury, asking Ally McCoist to aid in setting up the "bout".

Drew McIntyre is the first British WWE Champion (WWE)

McIntyre said: "When it gets backs to normal, the next thing I want to do is fight Chris Sutton.

"You set it up. Finally, when everything gets back to normal and I can get back to the UK and parade about with the belt, the last thing I want to do is have the match with Sutton.

“You’d be in my corner.”

The jibes clearly soon found their way to Sutton, who responded to McIntyre's Tweet about his Sunday night triumph.

Sutton said: "Well done chubby @DMcIntyreWWE on this...that’s one more title than your football team has won in a considerable amount of time (bar the Petroltank Cup)"

Will they one day step in the ring? Stranger things have happened.
