Chris Shields is back in contention for Dundalk’s trip to Inchicore to face St Pat’s.
Last year’s SWAI Player of the Year has recovered from a knee injury ahead of time and could feature in the Richmond Park clash.
The 28-year-old was injured against Shamrock Rovers a month ago and it was initially feared he faced a six-week lay-off.
With Patrick McEleney still three weeks away from a return, Shields’ availability is a boost for John Gill and Vinny Perth as Dundalk look to continue their seven- game unbeaten run.
Furthermore, John Mountney skippered a second string lilywhites side to an EA Sports Cup victory at Richmond Park on Monday and has fully recovered from a groin problem.
League of Ireland restructure plans seemingly dead after FAI talks stall
The experienced 26-year-old is a welcome addition for the champions, who have eight more fixtures to fulfil this month.
“We’re finding our feet,” said Perth. “We’re in a better position than where we thought we’d be three or four weeks ago so we’re very confident.
“The first half against Cork was one of our best performances of the season.
“At times we were outstanding. In the second half we didn’t keep the ball well enough.”
