Chris Rock will return to Saturday Night Live to host the show’s season premiere next week on Saturday.

SNL’s official twitter account announced the news on Thursday evening (24 September). The post also revealed that rapper Megan Thee Stallion will feature as a musical guest on the first episode.

This will be Rock’s third appearance as an SNL host, having previously emceed the show in 1996 and 2014.

The comedian was also a cast member for three years between 1990 and 1993, and has since made various cameo appearances over the years.

After halting production in March due to pandemic-related filming restrictions, SNL concluded its previous season by airing three remotely-produced episodes.

The popular show will return to live broadcasts on 3 October for its 46th series.

Fans are gearing up for an exciting season after SNL announced last week that Jim Carrey would be impersonating Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.

Carrey will be taking over from Woody Harrelson and Jason Sudeikis, who have both previously portrayed Biden on SNL.

Earlier this week, Bridesmaids star Maya Rudolph won an Emmy for her performance as Biden’s running mate Kamala Harris on the hit sketch show.
