Chris Ramsey has dig at Boris Johnson after lockdown announcement forces The Search off air

Chris Ramsey has taken a swipe at Boris Johnson after the Prime Minister's much delayed lockdown announcement forced his show The Search off air on Saturday night.

Johnson's briefing about a second lockdown for England was first delayed from 4 to 5pm and then from 5 to 6.45pm, after the BBC had already started a news special to coincide with a 5pm start.

This meant that The Search's latest live show, due to get going at 6.10pm last night was postponed, with a post on the show's Twitter account reading: "Little Mix The Search has been postponed tonight for a BBC special.

"The show will now become part of a big final event weekend, with the semi-final airing at 7pm on Friday, November 6 and the final at 6.05pm on Saturday, November 7."

South Shields comedian and Strictly star Chris shared the news but also had a jab at Boris, with reference to the widely shared Government poster of ballet dancer Fatima retraining for a new career in cyber after the coronavirus pandemic brought incredibly dark times for the arts.

It read 'Fatima's next job could be in cyber....she just doesn't know it yet'.

The much maligned campaign has sparked a series of memes and Chris posted: "Wonder if Boris will be this late when he’s working in cyber?"

The tweet got a big reaction for his many followers, many who were upset that The Search had been shelved. One replied: "I'm really annoyed about LMTS being postponed & now he's edging his way towards bloody Strictly as well!!" and another reacted: "If anyone in this country needs to retrain, then it’s him."

A third joked: "When this is all over I’m looking forward to seeing Chris Whitty on strictly or at a push dancing on ice."
