Chris Ramsey and wife Rosie will stage their hit podcast live at Newcastle Arena

Comedian Chris Ramsey and wife Rosie's popular podcast is to become a stage show, it was announced on Wednesday.

The North East comedy favourites will be appearing at Utilita Arena in Newcastle with a live stage version of Sh*gged. Married. Annoyed. which will see them chat about all the usual subjects they touch upon in the podcast which is such a hit with fans.

Since Chris and his actress and social media star wife Rosie launched it early last year, it has regularly hit the number one spot on the download charts, with a whopping 18m downloads to date worldwide.

Chris said: "We are absolutely over the moon that people enjoy listening to us talk nonsense, so we thought why not let them watch us talk nonsense - live!"

Bringing the podcast further into the spotlight seemed like the natural next step and the switch from recording it from their South Shields living room to the Utilita Arena is set to see it break the record for the biggest live podcast.

Local fans can see the show on September 12 at the Arena where Rosie Ramsey appeared just at the weekend in comedy sketches with Jason Cook at Sunday for Sammy.

And in the evening performance of the show, she was joined briefly by Chris when the Strictly Come Dancing semi-finalist made a surprise appearance during one of the sketches, to the delight of the audience.

Filling the Arena themselves will be a major coup for the couple's podcast which sees them chat about all aspects of life including relationships, arguments, annoyances, parenting and growing up. They will also release a book based on it.

Besides their home city gig, they will be touring the podcast to Birmingham - which will launch their tour on September 3 - as well as to Edinburgh, Glasgow, Nottingham, York and finally London where their tour will wrap up on September 27.

Chris added: "It’ll be a joy to take it out of our house and into such wonderful venues, but mainly, it’ll be a nice change not recording it on a table covered in bits of that day’s breakfast."

And Rosie said: "For years I’ve stayed at home while Chris went out on tour and now I get to go along with him - still not sure how happy he is about this.

"I’m mainly looking forward to a few nights away - like a little holiday."

Tickets to see them will go on pre-sale at 10am this Thursday, February 27 at Ticketmaster and See Tickets and then they will go on general sale at 10am on Friday, February 28 online at the Arena here or by calling number 0844 493 6666. At 11am they will be available from its box office.
