Chris Pratt suffers extreme facial swelling after being stung in the eye by 'angry bees'

Chris Pratt appeared in agony as he showed fans his extremely swollen face after being "stung in the eyeball" by a swarm of 'angry bees'.

The Guardians of the Galaxy actor, 43, said he had been inspired by a TikTok famous beekeeper to get closer to the honey-gathering insects.

Seemingly regretting the decision to go near an 'unsettled swarm', Chris showed his discomfort after getting into an altercation while attempting to "remove" a queen bee.

An avid viewer of Texas Bee Works beekeeper Erika Thompson, who boasts thousands of followers online, the Hollywood star tried to recreate one of her famous videos.

Taking to Instagram, showing his swollen face, Chris told his fans exactly what happened when he got up close and personal with a swarm.

"So I've been following this bee lady on Instagram," he explained. "She's so cool and brave and she goes in front of these hives of bees and says, 'They're very calm today'."

Chris explained that Erika uses her "bare hands" to "sift through bees and look for the queen" as she works to "remove the bee".

He said her viral clips have "built up this false sense of security" and that he thought he could "control bees too".

Speaking of the horrifying ordeal, Chris added: "So I saw a beehive two days ago and I went towards it and the man standing next to me said, 'Hey careful there's bees'.

"I said, 'These bees look very calm'. And I just stared at these bees and one of them come out and stung me in the eyeball."

"So, anyway, f**k that bee lady," Chris said after removing his sunglasses to expose his heavily swollen eye following the stinging situation.

Seemingly poking fun at Chris' new role in the hotly-anticipated Mario movie, Erika actually responded to Pratt's funny clip.

She quipped: "Wait – so now you’re going to be a plumber and a beekeeper?! If you leave saving the bees to me and other professionals, you can focus on saving the Princess, Mario."

The comment attracted more than 5,000 likes on Instagram as celeb pals and fans weighed in on the somewhat hilarious situation.

"I’m not laughing, I’m not laughing, I’m not laughing… I’M LAUGHING," said one friend. Another replied: "Sorry for laughing bro, you know where my heart is but daaaaamn!!"
