Chris Pratt has denied sending racist tweets after a number of posts attributed to the actor circulated on Twitter.
Earlier this week, tweets that were claimed to have been posted by Pratt between 2012 and 2013 went viral on social media. The posts, which were shared as screenshots, contained the N-word and racist comments against Muslim people.
After the actor’s name trended on Twitter in response to the posts, Pratt’s representatives told TMZ that the offensive tweets were fake and hadn’t been deleted as they never existed in the first place.
"Chris never tweeted the offensive things that are being circulated today,” they told the website. “Any suggestion that he did is not only totally false but also defamatory."
Twitter spokespeople, meanwhile, also said they “strongly believe these [tweets] to be fake”.

However, a tweet from 2012 reading “#MissUniverse In a way they all look like Miss Hungry” was confirmed to be real.
In October, Pratt’s Marvel castmates came together to defend the actor after he was dubbed “the worst Hollywood Chris” on social media.
Fans of the superhero series branded the move as “white dude solidarity”, questioning why the same actors had remained silent when their female co-stars such as Brie Larson and Tessa Thompson were being harassed.
