Chris Pearlman leaves Swansea City as new role with American owners is revealed

Swansea City chief operating officer Chris Pearlman has left his post at the club.

Pearlman leaves the club after three years to take up a new position as president of Kaplan Levien Sports Group.

He will return home to America where he will work directly with the club's owners, Steve Kaplan and Jason Levien, on their MLS side DC United.

In a statement, Pearlman said: “I will be leaving Swansea with a heavy heart.

“I have loved my time here and I would like to thank everyone, especially the people of Swansea, for welcoming me and my family into the community with open arms.

“It is a fantastic football club with phenomenal staff and supporters who live and breathe Swansea City. It has been a privilege to represent this proud club in my capacity as COO for the last three years.

“With the support of the staff and our loyal partners, the club has made massive strides in its business operation which I believe will stand it in good stead for the exciting times ahead.

“I will continue to follow and support the club from the States and contribute where needed on important projects at Swansea City.”

Owner Levien said: "During his tenure at Swansea, Chris made a major contribution to our business operations. We want to thank him for all of his efforts, and we are looking forward to working closely with him in his new leadership role.’’

Swansea City chairman, Trevor Birch, added: “We would like to thank Chris for his hard work and commitment over the last three years. It goes without saying that we wish him and his family well as they return home to the States.’’
