Chris Paul sees Thunder’s loss to Clippers as a ‘learning experience’

The Thunder couldn’t keep pace with the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday night, as Chris Paul and company fell to Paul George and Kawhi Leonard’s club by a final score of 109-94.

For Oklahoma City, the loss was their second in a row after Friday night’s blowout loss to the mighty Milwaukee Bucks. The Thunder lost that contest by a final score of 133-86.

Afterward, Paul briefly discussed the loss with reporters, noting that Tuesday night’s loss to Los Angeles was more about the things that Doc Rivers’ team did right than it was about what the Thunder did wrong.

For Oklahoma City, Dennis Schroder led the way with 24 points off the bench, while Paul chipped in a 14-point, seven-assist effort.

“I think it was a lot about them, that’s a really good team over there with a lot of depth. I think it’ll be a learning experience for us, we need more games like this to sort of see what it’ll be like come playoff time.”

As a result of the loss, the Thunder will enter play on March 4 at 37-24 — just one game behind their 38-23 mark last season.

All things considered, it’s incredible that the Thunder even find themselves in the position that they’re in. With 21 games remaining in the regular season, they sit in the sixth seed in the Western Conference, leading the seventh-seeded Dallas Mavericks by a half-game in the standings. They are comfortably ahead of the eight-seeded Memphis Grizzlies by 6.5 games.

As Oklahoma City prepares to square off against the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night, Paul kept it simple when asked what the club could do to snap the losing streak.

“Play better,” he said.

The troops will have the opportunity to do so against the struggling Pistons on the second night of Oklahoma City’s back-to-back.
