Oklahoma City Thunder legend Chris Paul has ruined it all for everybody.
Just over a week ago, CP3 pointed out to a referee that Jordan Bell checked in with an untucked jersey, which should be a delay of game violation. That eagle-eyed observation helped get the Thunder a technical foul free throw and, eventually, a win.
Paul and the Thunder ended up getting whistled for delay-of-game infractions days later, and it felt like NBA referees were, perhaps, like Major League umpires: once you call a strike that’s a borderline call, you have to stick with that strike zone the rest of the game, lest you look like a hypocrite.
That brings us to what happened to New York Knicks guard Elfrid Payton. He entered Sunday’s game against the Denver Nuggets … and he was whistled for not having his jersey tucked in. The referee told him to “thank Chris Paul” for it.
Paul reacted on an Instagram post of the moment with just how you’d expect him to:
Oh REAL funny. Now, every player has to be extra careful to make sure his jersey is tucked in before checking in. You ruined it for the whole class, Chris Paul.
