Chris Paul reacts to LeBron James winning 4th championship with Lakers

On Sunday night, the Los Angeles Lakers won its 17th NBA championship after defeating the Miami Heat by a final score of 106-93.

LeBron James won his fourth Bill Russell NBA Finals MVP Award and became the first player in NBA history to win the award for three different teams.

Thunder point guard Chris Paul wasn’t in Orlando watching the contest, but he certainly was taking in the action. He’s had a close relationship with James for many years and took some time out to send some love to his buddy as James further cemented himself among the game’s giants.

“Historic season for so many reasons!! Congratulations on an incomparable finish and another championship for my brother @KingJames!!! @NBA @TheNBPA,” Paul tweeted shortly after the clinching victory.

Paul referred to the league’s “historic season,” more than likely, out of a want to express that the advocacy for social justice initiatives was an important and recurring theme in Orlando.

During his postgame press conference, James himself also showed some love to Paul, the NBPA and the commissioner’s office for pulling off the bubble experience. James also emphasized the fact that there were no positive tests among the players for the entirety of the league’s more than 100 days in Orlando.

Now, as the league begins an indefinite hiatus — nobody knows when the 2020-21 season will begin — Paul was probably watching one of his closest friends make history while wondering if and when he would have the same opportunity.

Since the Thunder were eliminated from the postseason, Paul’s future has been an oft-discussed subject. After seeing James win his fourth title, it will probably be something Paul finds himself thinking about a bit more, as well.
