Chris Paul fined $35,000 for making contact with referee

Houston Rockets point guard Chris Paul has been fined $35,000 by the NBA for making contact with a referee as Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals would down.

Paul will not be suspended for Game 2.

Paul received his second technical foul of the game and was promptly ejected for the incident. He was protesting a handful of calls on the last possession that went against Houston. There was a possibility that Paul would be suspended for the incident, but Paul insisted the contact was incidental.

Paul received a technical earlier in the game for protecting a three-pointer in which he felt there was contact. Rockets coach Mike D’Antoni also received a technical in the same possession.

Game 2 will be broadcast Tuesday at 9:30 p.m. Central on TNT.
