Chris Paul cites LeBron James as role model for body maintenance

Whether you’re an NBA player just starting your career like Lonzo Ball, or a superstar veteran with 15-plus years in the league like Chris Paul, it seems like everyone looks to LeBron James as an example as someone who takes exceptional care of their body in order to extend his career.

Chris Paul’s work on extending his career and his body were featured in ESPN The Magazine’s 2019 edition of “The Body Issue,” where he listed LeBron James as someone who is a role model for him when it comes to taking his health seriously.

I had an opportunity to play with Grant Hill. It was his last year, with the Clippers. We used to talk about diet all the time. He used to be like, “During the summer, I sort of do 80/20,” like, he eats very healthy during the week, and then on weekends he may give himself a cheat day. Steve Nash took really good care of his body. Bron takes really good care of his body. The biggest thing all those guys have in common is discipline. I’m 34. I’m going to be chasing around a bunch of 19- and 20-year-olds. There’s no excuse. If you get a routine and you stick to it, the sky’s the limit.

Paul is only a few months younger than LeBron, who is set to turn 35 at the end of 2019. Even though LeBron and Paul are getting up in the years, both appear to be as motivated as ever to prove to everyone that they can still dominate.
