Chris Paul and Trae Young will be joined by Zach LaVine of the Chicago Bulls and Mike Conley, Jr. of the Utah Jazz as NBA representatives in the NBA HORSE Challenge, which will begin airing this Sunday, April 12 at 7:00 p.m. ET.
The competition is the latest attempt by the league to put together an entertainment option for its fans. The news of the competition was first reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, who also reported that the competition would begin airing on April 12.
Aside from the four NBA participants, former WNBA newly minted Basketball Hall of Famer Tamika Catchings will also participate, as will WNBA All-Star Allie Quigley. Rounding out the field will be NBA alumni Paul Pierce and Chauncey Billups.
The contest will be a tournament, with the bracket already released.
Chris Paul will square off against the WNBA’s Allie Quigley on Sunday. The winners from Sunday will then meet in the semifinals and for the championship on Thursday, April 16.
The entire competition will be contested remotely, as the NBA’s teams continue their lockout in the face of the nationwide lockdown that has resulted from the current pandemic.
