Chris Packham wants 'wildlife killer' Ollie Williams axed from Love Island

Wildlife hero Chris Packham is calling on Love Island bosses to boot hunter Ollie Williams out of the villa.

The host of BBC's Springwatch says ITV shouldn't be giving the heir a platform after pictures of him posing with dead animals he has supposedly killed emerged.

Conservationist Chris has spoken out against the broadcaster after seeing pictures of the 23-year-old heir posing with dead water buffalo, antelope and a warthog in Africa.

Chris said: "We should be naming and shaming. Why on earth are ITV thinking about giving this man a platform? You can't give a platform to people who are killing wildlife for fun," reports the Daily Mail .

A petition asking ITV to remove Ollie from the hit dating show has already had more than 18,000 signatures.

The images of Ollie with dead animals were allegedly used to promote his hunting business, Cornish Sporting Agency.

Chris has spoken out against ITV's use of animals for entertainment before, and successfully campaigned to ban the eating of live insects on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

Meanwhile, Ollie's own father turned down the chance to defend him amid the public backlash.

When asked about his son, Andrew Williams, who is Viscount Clifden, the Lord of the Manor of the Lanhydrock Estate, in Cornwall, said he didn't want to talk about it.

He told the Daily Star : "This is Oliver's journey and we won't be commenting."

He went on to say Ollie can "speak for himself" when he leaves the villa.

The publication also asked ITV if there were any plans to remove Ollie from the villa amid the backlash and were told by a spokesperson last night: "Ollie is still in the villa".

Ollie coupled up with Scottish beauty Paige Turley on his first day in the villa.

He suggested his ego was bruised when none of the girls stepped forward to declare they fancied him.

He chose Paige and has been laying the charm on thick ever since.

He joked their relationship didn't get off to the best start when she stepped forward for Connor when he entered the villa, but he chose Sophie, who also declared her interest in him.

* Love Island airs nightly at 9pm on ITV2
